Eat Green and Increase your Health

Having a healthy and varied diet is essential to maintain good physical and mental health. Now the question is what we should include in the healthy diet. A good diet should contain plenty of protein, calcium and carbohydrates and fats (in moderation). The experts say that green vegetables along with fresh fruits are also necessary for good health and to improve body functions. The most common healthy green foods include:

  • Cucumber
  • Green cabbage
  • Mustard greens
  • Broccoli
  • Turnip  and beet greens
  • Spinach
  • Kale and
  • Iceberg lettuce

These can be cooked or eaten raw. Many people juice vegetables including leafy green vegetables. Not only does juicing make consuming vegetables more palatable, but it allows you to eat (or drink) more than if you were to eat the vegetables raw. Juicing fruits and vegetables makes it easier for the body to absorb the nutrients. Half the job of the stomach is done when it has to deal with liquids as opposed to solids. Leafy green vegetables keep your skin fresh and nourished, activate your digestive system, refresh the mind, lower the cholesterol level of the body, help prevent vision problem and are an aid in the prevention of cancer.

Dieticians recommend spreading the intake of leafy green vegetables throughout the day and not all at once in one meal.
