Three invasive plants should you not grow in your garden
When you think about what plants you want to grow in your garden, you have take many things into consideration. They have to look good and be fairly easy to grow, but there’s something even more important than this: make sure they are not invasive. No matter how good they look, if they are invasive, they will prevent other plants from growing and it will be almost impossible to get rid of them. Here are three of the plants that you should avoid:
- Bamboo. You might be surprised to hear this, as many people would like to have bamboo in their garden. Indeed, it does look exotic and it can give you the privacy that you need if you live in the middle of the city. On the other hand, it will grow so fast and strong that all the other plants around will be suffocated and will soon die.
- Hedera Helix. We all know those old Enlish homes that look amazing covered in a green folliage. That plant is Hedera Helix, and once it’s in your garden you will not be able to get rid of it. It grows extremely fast and it will grow on your house, garage, fence and anything else that is in the way.
Purple Loosestrife. If you did not have flowers in your garden until now, you might think that this plant is pretty. It does look good, but it will kill any other plant trying to grow next to it. Besides, once you have cultivated one stem, you will have a garden full of it in only a few months!
